Concentration of firepower is most desirable, 1st. Rear firing weapons are for targets that are more maneuverable than you are and will get behind you to avoid your main weapons. You also have to acquire weapon lock. Smaller weapon platforms, like RW fighters for example, only track their FA arc (The FA-22 I believe has FH tracking. Not certain, but pretty sure.) because they don't have multiple arrays to track 360 degrees. I believe that the only thing the b'rel has to worry about getting behind it would be ftrs or drones (missiles). Rear facing weapons would be designed to handle those threats. It's, reletively limited amount of anti-ship weapons would be concentrated in one arc. Since you typically fly forward while attacking, that would be the optimum arc. It would probably have limited targeting sensors, reletive to larger starships too, I'd imagine.
