Favorite FX graphics thread

Put these in your Assets/Textures folder, first backing up the originals of course. Anyone else wishing to share their favorite FX textures feel free to post!

This one changes the green Plasma-F into a light blue:

This one changes your Phaser-2, Phaser-1, Phaser-X into a yellow-green beam similar to what we see the 1701 fire in TAS and also more Klingon-Romulan-like. Your Phaser-4 also changes from white to a cyan tint:

I've been waiting for a thread like this for a while now ... almost started one myself, but didn't know if there'd be any interest in it.

This one makes for good close up shots on Missile rocket flares ... now all we need is a good missile model ... hmmm ... To download, just right-click/save target as.


With this one, shields are less distracting to the models and tractor beams look pretty cool. I monkeyed with T-Bomb graphics too and still want a way to get BLUE phasers, dammit. To download, just right-click/save target as.


Simply clicking on this pic will download the entire Plasma mod for SFC2 ... it's a little funky, but I really dig it.


I have other stuff too, but we'll see how this goes first. What I'd really like to see are custom damage textures that don't engulf small ships so much and look more like phaser scoring instead of gnarled metal.

I seem to remember that there was a "trick" to making blue phasers, at least in SFC2/OP. There was some kind of game problem that caused the FX1.BMP colors to be "shifted" to one side of the color spectrum so that, if you used ADOBE PHOTO DELUXE, like I do, and you made the phaser color look "blue" in PHOTO DELUXE, it would look some like some other color in the game. If, however, you made the phaser color look "light green" (? I may be mis-remembering) in PHOTO DELUXE, it would look "blue" in the game. This shift was why people could never do better than "cyan" for phasers -- they didn't realize that the file colors were being changed by the game. You might want to check this out.
