It's quite nice, but the full saucer and the double hull would mean it's a cruiser of some type...I'd be tempted to call it a strike cruiser or something like that.

Yes... it's very Decatur/Belknap looking.

Also I find the location of the "deflection crystal" in the secondary hull a bit odd, because the engine shafts would naturally join up at that juncture anyways, and the location of a main matter tank in the secondary hull (the circular ring around the crystal) would mean that the saucer has its own matter tanks for its two divided impulse engines, which means this ship has a lot of redundancy. Maybe if there were another seperate impulse engine for the secondary hull that matter tank there would be justified, but otehrwise it's very cruiser-esque, maybe even battleship-esque.

Yeah. . .there is much to like in this design.
But there is room for a few nit-picks;
1) How many phasers does this ship have? It appears to have TMP era 6x2 phaser mounts and TOS engines. If this is meant to be a Connie contemporary. . .it is WAY overgunned.
2) Why is it that only the Feds seem to have such prominent shuttle bays? Anywho. . .I question the placement of the hanger bay on the saucer. Why there and not put a nice shuttle bay in the quasi-expendeble secondary hull? Is there room for something this size AND the expanded impulse deck? Compared to other designs, it seems like too much stuff is on the saucer.
I would like to see a shuttle bay like this on a Saladin type destroyer. That would be neat. Lord Shupp is the only one (I think) who has addressed the shuttlebay problem on the DD and TT designs.
3) I agree with Atra about the deflection crystal.

If this ship were a prototype cruiser whose secondary hull could seperate and operate under its own impulse and warp power, that would be something special.

So are we saying this could be a DDX?
