Thanks, guys ... really! It helps keep me motivated ... lol.
(Now that the acursed Marklin Class is out of the way, I can go back to having fun with this, as depicted above!)

Huh. Why do you say "acursed" Marklin?
Although there is plenty to talk about regarding the Marklin.
Still debating with myself the need for a Deflector dish on the Marklin.
And someday, we have to "rationalize" the NCC4300 numbers for this class. Note that the Ptolomy's use NCC3800 numbers. . . . . .

The Marklin mesh gave me a bit of trouble when it came to texture mapping ... forced me to think differently, which is good for growth, but growth is never easy ... especially when you're an old dog learning new tricks ... lol.

Well, I downloaded it. It looks more impressive on Mod Viewer than it does in the beauty shot.
Now. . off to the shiplist!

Definitely no dish for the Larson... those hideous dish on a stick grafts I see elsewhere just look daft to me. Besides, only vessels with Enterprise style underslung secondary hulls have ever had any overt sign of a deflector array. The Miranda (and all her sub-classes) seem to do well without one.

That is an interesting question.
The tug and Saladin both have the dishes from the FJ tech manual.
This was the ONE element from the secondary hull that jumped over to the primary hull when the secondary hull disappeared.
I myself wondered how the shuttle bays and warp drive controls could fit in the primary hull. And still leave room for all the other stuff!
On the tug, the Steve Cole and crowd from SFB gave the tug a very different internal arrangment, since the ship lacked both the science and combat capabilities of the CA. But the poor DD has the same lab rating and weapon suite of the CA. Which seemed frankly impossible.
Lord Schtupp addresses this partially by adding small shuttle bays to his models of those ships. I like that. Shuttles are, afterall, somewhat bigger than a breadbox.
For the destroyer, this leaves a big question regarding the "warp core". On the Connie and dreadnaught, there can be little doubt that these contraptions, which can occassionally explode and require hull separation, are in the secondary hull. Are we saying that on the Saladin they put it in that huge connector between the Primary Hull and Warp nacelle? While still maintaining the Connie connector shape? I guess that makes the most sense.

My idea is that the saucer on the CA had quarters to fit the full crew of 430, so there was plenty of space to go around. If a DD has a crew of 200 then you can get rid of accomodations for 230 crew.

Always made me wonder what that extra crew did. I mean.. . how many systems are actually in the secondary hull? Are we saying we have 100 people that you scatter around onto planets?
Don't forget the destroyers have a science capability as well. . .
