Yes the Daleks are back but aren't we a little too used to seeing them?
He's regenerating again! What a killer of a cliffhanger. But I have heard no talk of who will replace him! Any info on that?
Or is he just going to stay all lit up like that for episode 13?
So after 13 there won't be Doctor Who for a whole year??? What is up with those Brits, don't they know how to run with a good thing?

Yes the Daleks are back but aren't we a little too used to seeing them? Oh come on! Everyone loves the Daleks! He's regenerating again! What a killer of a cliffhanger. But I have heard no talk of who will replace him! Any info on that? Or is he just going to stay all lit up like that for episode 13? According to the Wiki page, DT is playing the Doctor through the three specials in '09 as well. So there might justbe some trickery regarding this regeneration yet. Unless they're throwing us all off, and incarnation number 10 really has just bought it. So after 13 there won't be Doctor Who for a whole year??? What is up with those Brits, don't they know how to run with a good thing? Three specials in 2009 was the original plan, followed by Series 5 in 2010. RTD is stepping down in favour of Steve Moffat (who has written some of the best stories of the relaunched DW), think RTD is writing the specials if they go ahead though. As for the gap between proper series.....depends how you look at it. If they keep grinding a series out year after year after year then it'll end up going the way that it did back in the '80s. It needs these breaks to keep it exciting.

K, thanks for the info. I love the Daleks too but after 4 years they've gotten just a tad old. I can't help thinking that they need something to jazz up their basic design again. The red leader Dalek was somewhat interesting, and Davros and Khan were interesting new additions, but if the Daleks are always coming back after having re-invented themselves, shouldn't we be seeing variation by now? Like specialized Daleks with this or that doohickey added to them for special purposes, or more color variation. Even the Daleks in the original series went through tons of color changes to keep them interesting-looking. I've built 4 Comet Miniature Daleks and did a lot of research to determine the proper colors for them, and even after 4 I feel I'd need at least two more to represent the basic color variations that the original Daleks went through.
My favorite original Dalek scheme was the violet-grey of the Tom Baker / Davison eras. Probably runner-up are the silver ones of the Pertwwee era. The white/gold ones of the Colin Baker era were a new twist, but they ended up looking more like waiters than intimidating aliens.
My vote is that we need to see them in a shade of green now.

From what was said at the end of the episode I watched, and the Confedential episode, they make it sound like there will be a show the following week, and not next year.

There will be an episode next week, but that's the end of the season if I understand it correctly.

Something just struck me about your comment re: being a tad bored of Daleks:
Previous episode for them was "Evolution of the Daleks", broadcast April 28th 2007 on BBC1. Latest episode "The Stolen Earth" was broadcast June 28th 2008 on BBC1.
We've gone over a year without seeing the murderous pepper-pots, so it's a bit harsh to criticise the show-runners for bringing them back now!

The pepper-pots in the previous series never went for 4 straight years with no changes to them. Even during the Baker-Davison eras they went from purple-grey to darker purple-grey, with even some individual variations in the greys from unit to unit. I believe even the white ones of the Colin Baker-McCoy eras changed shades of white-ivory with gold details here and there getting switched over time. The history of Dalek coloring is rich indeed and researching it is a fascinating task.

Watched Ep13 of Dr Who last night. I won't reveal much, but I was alittle let down it wasn't much of end of season cliffhanger, but it did open up some new possibilities for next season I'm happy about.
Spoiler for Next Season: Return of the Cyber-men
