Thanks! I think the light gray hull makes sense and should be the direction for the GCA project I'm working on. Glad to see they're using the correct hull font. BUt it has orange phaser emitters!

I could be wrong goodness knows my eyes are not what they used to be but it looks to me like the orange beams are striking the Kelvin not being fired from the Kelvin. The Kelvin appears to be returning fire with some type of turrets that have popped up out of the primary hull and are firing whitish/bluish bolts of energy.

the red/orange beam is fire at the kevin, the kevin got 3 phaser turret or what ever it is that are pop out of the hull, the one firing you can see one on the right and on the left, the one on the left seem to be popping out of the hull and they don't seem to be center, more like back up phaser.

I'd rather have those pop-up phaser cannons than the godawful phaser strips anyday. Closer to TWoK Phaser banks  |

The font isn't quite right, as the 1 lacks its serif.
What does everyone think of the cast? They look too young and cute to me, especially Kirk and Spock. The bridge looks interesting, but seems like it was designed by Apple.

anyway it seem not bad, we just have to see how it is when its in theater.

I believe jj said he was adhering to canon in lore only. Everything appearance wise obviously got changed. The Kelvin looks like a mix of Franz Joseph's Saladin, and jj's revisionism. Love that "turbine" nav deflector array, and if you didnt see it too clearly the warp nacelle is below the saucer. Only thing that is bothering me is those pop up anti aircraft guns. I am not too worried about fonts or hull colors because the looks of TOS are getting a total reboot in this movie. Like it or not. It is said the Kelvin is about 25-30 years older than the big-e, and that fight scene is supposed to happen before kirk was born.
As for the cast... I cannot see how jj is gonna pull off a convincing big-e crew that looks in their late teens/early 20's. Especially a command staff. Unless they are pulling a TWOK where they all happen to be "in training"

A couple new images of the Kelvin can be found in the Starfleet Database at this site. I guess it does have standard Phaser turrets in addition to those pop-up weapons. Also, the site refers to the new Enterprise as Constitution class. boldlygo.intel.com/content/index.html |
